My Specialist

This is how some of my specialists and how they are going, the specialist at my school contain: PE, Art, Music and science. Recently in PE the classes around the school have been doing beep test and dodgeball. I finished the beep test with a 9.11 which I was disappointed about because a couple weeks before that I got 11 so I thought I would’ve done better but I was pretty happy, next is art and we have been doing Picasso and abstract paintings, in music class we have been learning a song for our end of year concert “from title things big things grow” by Paul Kelly that I’m playing piano on. Finally science, In science we have been leaning about light refraction and we are about to start electric circuits which I am excited for.

Lightning strikes 4 times

Once again the fortnight rolls around and we have assembly in the morning. There are four awards including: PE, Art, Science and Music. The assembly last 1 hour, we were listening closely and hoping to get as many awards as we can. We hear the first one get called out it was us, my class won the first award! We kept listening on for the last 3 awards. As we listen in  for the next couple awards. The next one slowly but surely gets called out, and it goes to… my class “we won once again!” This rarely happens and we won twice there’s almost no way we could win again. Out of the blue, as the next award calls out I heard our class again At this point I was confused this wasn’t making sense to me and I don’t know how we won had just won 3 awards! If we won this would be the first time in history any class has won all 4 so we were listening closely and there were voices all around spectating and listening about who would win. They start to call it out and I hear the slightest bit of the class it sounded like it was us but it couldn’t be, could it? The winning class of the final award goes to… CLASS 14 we won this was the first time EVER, and I got to collect it from the front of the assembly! I get congratulated and so does the rest of my class.

Finals Around The Corner

Just last week a played a game against a team that was dependent on a big part of finals. (Whoever won went to the Grand Final). I was nervous all week and going into the game I was thinking and wondering who would win. So as I was driving to the game I was chatting to my teammates on messages to see who was playing, I messaged all of them and all of them got back to me only one of them said they weren’t playing. I arrived at the stadium and was super nervous I knew I had to switch on and warm up. It was now or never! Throughout the warm up I was talking to my teammates. The game was starting up and I was on the court ready for the jump ball, the 2 centres go up and they win it to their favour. The first few quarters go back and forth and there’s lots of ups and downs. Up to the second half, scores are super low and their up by 1 point It was extremely close and I was ready to go back on for the second. They get 8 points without us scoring once, and there was 10 minutes left and I thought the game was over but I wasn’t going to give up. We start scoring and hitting 3s the games goes back and forth a bit more but still they were up. It was 28-27 and we had the ball with a minute 30 left. My teammate drove and got a and 1 we all went crazy and now he had a free throw, he missed and they get the rebound. As they dribble it down and miss a shot we get the ball and get it back down. My dad yells from the side-line “Ice It’, (slow down the ball) we waste 30 seconds and they manage to steal it! They sprint down and have a opportunity to score but they fumble off their foot and it goes out of bounds! We go back down and they apply a lot of pressure we get it down all we need to do is waste another 15 seconds. We set screens, run dribble handoff and stall for as long as we can. I watch the clock tick down 3… 2… 1… and the siren sounds! We win everyone jumps on each other. 29-28 1 point win what a game everybody screams “we’re going to the grand final”!

Story Starters 2

In class we have been doing story stater we have done this topic of post before; a story starter is to engage the reader into the story with a first sentence and following up to the problem or solution and the story continues. Here are some of mine:

Suffer – I saw him suffer, he was in pain. Now was my chance.

Fought- He fought for his life, there was no stopping now it was too late.

Forgive – For what he did, he couldn’t forgive him.

Faction carnival

The day of the faction carnivals waking up early ibn the morning ready and nervous I get ready and and I leave the house I get into the class and the first thing I do is talk to my friends knowing this would be a fun, exciting and anxious day! As I am i sports captain for my school I had to carry out the flag that said my faction on it. We entered our bays and got ready for the tabloids: flags, pass ball, leader ball, chicken relay and tug of war. The tabloids lasted up to an 2 hours my faction only one a few times of the events. We entered back to our bays it was now recess I was so nervous knowing my 100m was straight after I ate some food and had a drink, It was time to warm up for my race we had 20 minutes until our race I was speaking to some of my friends asking how they were feeling and if they were nervous. I was practising my starts and my reactions we only had 5 minutes by now. I was going back into my bay to make sure I didn’t want to get to tired while I was warming up. I hear the siren for the end of recess now my heart was racing and I don’t know what to do they called out the names and divisions (I was in division A.) I waked up to the start of the race the girls were first I was ready but super nervous at the same time. The boys call called up, I muted out all the noises except for the teacher doing the start of the race call out… On your marks Get set Nothing but silence the race had now started started.

Footy on the weekend

As the umpire holds the ball in the air, the siren sounds for the start of the game. This team was hungry for the win they were one of the best teams in the league. The 2 rucks jumped up for the ball and my teammate came running through kicked the ball into the forward 50 my teammate took a mark to go back and have a set shot, as he came in with his run-up he kicks with power… GOAL! we jumped on him “nice goal’ I say and go back to my position in forward to get ready for the next ball up, as he threw the ball up with no time to waste, my rover teammate got it again kicked it to me as I was leading it went over my opponents and I head it bounced out the back. I pick it up run one way and go the other on a swift turn my opponent was behind me all I needed to do now was score! I shoot…watch it go through the air it was in Straight through the middle this was a great start for the first quarter. right after my goals as the umpire go back to the middle to siren for the 1st quarter goes ‘what a quarter boys’ my coach says.

Story Starters

In spelling our class have been learning about Story Starters, we have been looking at some of the best story starters for a narrative such as ‘Where’s Papa going with the axe?” (From Charlotte’s Web.) Another good one is from Fish In A Tree “Its always there like the ground underneath my feet.” strong  Story Starters are great for explaining, writing and reading because it engages the reader, here are some of my story starters for some particular words: Jungle, Genie and Gaol

Jungle – I kept hearing sounds they were echoing like I was in the middle of somewhere l-I Think I was in a jungle.

Genie – I was stuck I couldn’t even ask for help I wish a genie would come…

Gaol – I woke up in Goal, not knowing how I got there I need to figure out a way to escape.

Freo Game

During the school holidays I decided to go watch a Freo v Richmond game with my family and Kai. So I got ready and jumped in the car, we drove to the train station  and got onto the train it was a long ride but we made it to the next train stop. We got off then we took a walk to the sports bar to meet Alex Pearce I took a photo with him and also got a signed footy card from him. After we met him we then had lunch and a chat about the game, then we got back onto the train to go to the stadium. This ride was much shorter but the wait to get on was still pretty long. So when we got to the game and walked up to our seats we realised how high we were. After we just finished watching the first quarter we walked down to some seats closer and lower to the field. I had some food and shared with kai, the game had almost finished we had SO much fun so we heard the siren go and we went up from our seats to go back home. As the train stopped we got on and after the ride we got back off at our stop. Then we jumped back in the car to drive home but on the way we had to drop kai off.

Free Throws After The Siren

3 minutes Left of the last quarter, score is 27-29 down by two intense game we needed to beat this team if we want to make finals at the end if the season. Both teams trying there hardest players with the ball going up and down the court, a few points go down and now 29-31 and the bench was starting to get loud there was now only two minutes in it . As I was nervously dribbling the ball up the court I pass to my teammate and he takes a shot. I hear nothing, hoping it goes in and… SWISH! It drops straight in 31-32, 1 minute left we are playing our best defence until they score a far 2 point shot 33-32.  My teammate was dribbling it down  we got down to our shooting end passing it around trying to find where a spot we could score, then I got passed the ball and I saw an opportunity I took the shot and got fouled. 10 seconds left  I had my first shot and with getting put off by everything around me. I made it 33-33 screaming and clapping , I was scared the siren went everyone got sent off their team were screaming trying to put me off I know I just needed to ignore them and take the shot so that’s what did… I shot and it looked like it was gonna go in it looked like everything was in slow-Mo.  The ball was floating through the air IT WAS IN  SWISH! My teammates came and jumped on me I DID IT, I WON THE GAME FOR MY TEAM!
